Rovaniemi is located on the Arctic Circle. Four entirely unique seasons offer exquisite opportunities for a runner. In Rovaniemi you can experience snowy forests, northern lights, colourful autumn and midnight sun by running.
During winter (December, January, February, March) Rovaniemi is normally covered with snow. You may see northern lights in the sky and typical daytime temperatures fluctuate from -25 to -5 degrees Celsius. Coldest days can go as low as -35. This is the best time to try our Winter Trail because the trees are covered with snow and the landscape is magical.
Spring (April, May) in Rovaniemi is the time when the sun starts to feel warmer, snow starts to melt and ice starts to break. Typical daytime temperatures fluctuate from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius. This is the best time to try our Custom Run.
In the summer (June, July, August) you can experience the midnight sun from late May to early July. Temperatures go as high as 25 degrees Celsius. This is the perfect time to try our Midnight Run, City Run and Custom Run.
Autumn (September, October, November) is the time when the first northern lights appear and the autumn leaf colour paints the landscape. Temperatures fluctuate from -10 to 10 degrees Celsius. We recommend Custom Run and Local Run because autumn is a perfect time to do nature-related activities.
